The post office opened in 1872-3 and has also been referred to as Aughnamullen. It has previously only listed a recorded SR rubber mark.

The Post Office was built in 1926 on the site of the original single storey thatched cottage.

Joseph Falls Postmaster circa 1950-1990 with a painting of the original post office.
