30 Sep 1971 - Newry Reporter - "Ardaragh PO to close today following death of Postmaster". Despite a protest from the Local Council and a Letter from Newry's Head Postmaster, the PO was found to be not economic and not replaced.
17 Sep & 1 Oct: The Outlook (Rathfriland) contained an obiturary for Mrs E. Brown who died 6 Sep. Postmistress from 1942 (took over from husband) nee Hazlett.
* - POA 13 Apr 1842 No 438 described only 3 letters per week, but Mr Reid was willing to guarantee receivers salary of £5.
